PC Welcomes Largest Class Since Pandemic

Porterville College kicked off the fall semester with a record number of students returning to campus. The college welcomed over 4,000 students, more than a 20% increase from Fall of 2021.

The first day of classes went off without a hitch, despite the sticky weather. Students took to the quad to meet with faculty and staff, get information about campus resources, and enjoy music from 104.9 and 97.5 FM Radio DJ Randy Hendrix.

Ignacio and Roxanne Ibarra are returning students who are grateful to continue their education at Porterville College. Ignacio is majoring in business, and Roxanne is majoring in commercial art."I'm grateful to continue my education here at PC and there are many opportunities for the community and myself here. I feel very blessed," said Ignacio. Roxanne added, "I really like this school, because they have a lot of really good programs to help me. My major is commercial art."

Education major Elias Quiroz is enjoying getting to know his professors on the first day of classes. Adjunct English instructor Ben Willett is also excited about the start of the semester. He loves seeing the new students and helping them discover new horizons in learning.

The PC Student Services Department is hosting multiple information and resource booths across campus for the opening two weeks of the semester. Faculty and staff members are available to answer student questions, provide information on programs and services, and get to know the people they serve every day from 9am to Noon in the Quad near the Library and from 4pm to 6pm in the quad near the Fine Arts building.
